“I shrug my shoulders when the Bark of Peter is in danger and there is no one to lend it help.”
Tommaso Unzio was born in Valmacinaia in Central Italy, in 1319, to a wealthy, but non-aristocratic family. He was the youngest of 4 children. His mother was very devout and for much of his youth, he devoted himself to prayer with God.
Beginning at the age of 12, per his mother’s request, he joined the Fraticellis in Serrasanta, who were spiritual Franciscans, took a vow of chastity and obedience, and settled in a cell in order to be closer to the Lord in prayer and contemplation.
When he turned 24, Blessed Pietro da Gualdo Tadino became his spiritual director, and it is where he remained for over 2 decades.
He was renowned for his piety and devotion.
In 1370, he had a significant change and began a long journey through Italy, preaching and prophesizing. He captivated audiences with his profound knowledge of scripture and eloquent delivery. He gave sermons in churches, town squares, and in open areas, or wherever he could draw a crowd. His charismatic personality resonated with people of all types and backgrounds and inspired others to embrace the teachings of Catholicism.
He was actively involved in promoting justice and peace in the communities he served. He advocated for social reforms and emphasized the importance of charity, calling upon the faithful to care for the less fortunate and to strive for a more just and equitable society.
After stopping in Assisi and heading to Nocera, on the day of Ognissanti, All Hallows Eve, he had a vision which he narrated to his companions and was inserted into the book, Legenda, as The Worthy Shepherd Prophecy. It details a great change for the Church and the world in the year 2012, just prior to Pope Benedict’s resignation, followed by troubling times and followed by restoration of the Church.
“I shrug my shoulders when the Bark of Peter is in danger and there is no one to lend it help. By about twelve years shall the millennium have passed when the resplendent mantle of legitimate power shall emerge from the shadows where it was being kept by the schism, and beyond harm from the one who is blocking the door of salvation, for his deceitful schism shall have come to an end. And the mass of the faithful shall attach itself to the worthy Shepherd who shall extricate each one from error and restore to the Church its beauty. He shall renew it.”
His death was predicted 4 years ahead of time and on September 15, 1377, he passed away peacefully in Foligno, Italy, succumbing to natural causes. He was laid to rest in the Franciscan church of Sant Agostino where his tomb became a place of pilgrimage.
For God’s Glory.
